If you are concerned about privacy now that Ipred Act has come into effect, there are several ways to protect yourself online with. The Swedish service Relakks is an option. It takes a closer look at in Part 2 of our article series about surfing anonymously.
Relakks is an anonymization that is based on creating an encrypted VPN tunnel from your computer to Relakks servers and get an IP address from them. This address is then your IP address out on the web. VPN tunnel, install easily by going into the Connection settings for Internet Explorer and click Add VPN. Then follow the instructions and enter the username and password you chose when you registered for you on Relakks website and connect to the server pptp.relakks.com.
Once the connection is installed and finished, all traffic from your computer, as well as file download surf, chat, games and everything else, to go through this.
To sign up and start using Relakks requires that you provide a three-month subscription to the company. It costs 149 SEK.
During my tests of Relakks I noticed that my Internet connection was marginally slower. Certainly I'm sitting at a fairly slow connection with an ADSL line, which in its best moments are up to 15 Mbps, but after installing the Relakks rate fell only a little over 1 Mbps Ping times were virtually unchanged. However, it is very possible that the differences are more noticeable at very high speed connections, or for that matter over slow cellular connections.
